Supervisor Candidate Councilwoman Carol A. Lent

Living in Clermont for twenty years, on the third longest running farm in New York State. Established and committed to this picturesque community Carol and her family raise Belgain Draft Horses, beef cattle along with hay and corn.  The Lent's also operate an excavation business alongside their home and farm.

For 10 years Carol has enjoyed serving as councilwoman with great caring and concern for the town of Clermont and its residents.  A dedicated and tireless public servant Carol has initiated and secured funding for some of the following projects,  Historic Restoration of Clermont "Academy", Handicap Access Ramp for the Town Hall, Remediation and Study Grant for 20 acre parcel surrounding Town Hall, create Town of Clermont Civic Historic District, Micro-filming for all Historic Town Documents, NYS SARA Inventory and Planning Grant, Historic Supplies grants, Fire Department computer and NYS software program, Protective Fire Gear and Equipment, Grant funding to support Agriculture in Clermont, Germantown, Livingston and secured a new water supply for all 3 town buildings.

With a pro-Active stance for Zoning and Planning, Carol has protected water resources and addressed septic concerns by implementing a 2 acre Up-zone. Carol and the town board implemented a review and update of the comprehensive plan every 5 years, understanding the importance for the town's Comprehensive Plan as a tool for Clermont's future.

As a motivator, Carol has been the Director of Community Events overseeing Clermont Easter Egg Hunt for 10 years and has raised $20,000 hosting over 1200 people annually. Civic minded Carol finds time to volunteer for organizations as well.  She was Chief Financial Officer for Resurrection Parish (Germantown) for 6 years, High School Religious Education Director for Resurrection Parish for 19 years. Responding compassionately to the residents she serves, Carol arranged and donated materials for the rebuilding of a Germantown home whose family had lost everything.

Town Council Candidate  Peter F. Fingar

A Consummate gentleman and community inspired Peter Fingar is a life long resident of Columbia County. Born and raised in Germantown moving next door to Clermont in 2002.  Peter graduated from Albany Academy and Long Island Agricultural & Technical College. Peter always believing you give back to in the community is a 50 year member of Germantown fire Co., Past Commodore of Catskill Yacht Club, Trustee of Columbia Memorial Hospital for 12 years, Elder & Vice President of Germantown Reformed Church an until moving to Clermont served on the Germantown Planning Board.

Peter is married to Martha Schultheis. He has four children and three step children.

Town Council Candidate Incumbent Harry E. Harned

Harry is currently a town councilman seeking re-election.  He is acting Town Supervisor.  Harry looks forward to the privilege of continuing to serve the Town of Clermont as councilman.

Experienced, Harry served on the Zoning Board of Appeals from 1995-1999. Chairman of the ZBA from 1997-1999. He has been a town board member since 1999 and Deputy Supervisor from 2003 until his recent appointment in to Acting Supervisor, not an unfamiliar position as he was acting supervisor in 2004.

Committed to his community Harry not only serves in town government but also served as Deputy Chairman of the Clermont Fire Commissioners. Member of Clermont Fire Dept for 11 years and Secretary of the Clermont Fire Company for 9 years.

Harry's accomplishments are evident by working with the town board to keep the finances on tract, maintaining a low budget without tax increase in the last 8 years.  Harry worked to help set up the Pension plan for Clermont volunteer Fire Dept.  In doing this membership and participation in training has risen 30%.  He collaborated and secured a lease payment plan for the Fire Company allowing the Fire Co. to grow while staying financially solvent, with little cost to the town. This allowed an old station to be replaced with a saving of at $300,000.00 to taxpayers.

Harry and his wife Susan have a grown daughter.  He is a Senior Engineering Technician for NXP Semiconductor for 30 years.

Town Justice Richard Christensen

Over the past 16 years, Richard Christensen has proven himself to be a person of high moral character. He has served Clermont with a strong, fair and balanced decision making process.  Justice Christensen deserves your vote on November 6th for Town Justice in the “Town of Clermont.”

An experienced and seasoned Justice. Richard Christensen has served as Town Justice for nearly 16 years. He believes in a strong and balanced judicial system. Justice Christensen has maintained a platform of a fair and balanced decision making process, that has helped numerous people through the years. Maintaining a platform of harsher penalties for career criminals and repeat offenders has proven effective in making our community safer from those who continue to commit crimes. Justice Christensen believes in American values and a strong, unified Town and Country, regardless of political party affiliation.
